The Music Man Axis Super Sport BFR (Ball Family Reserve) is a premium, limited-build version of the classic Axis Super Sport, showcasing the finest tonewoods, upgraded appointments, and elite craftsmanship reserved for the BFR series. It combines the iconic Axis design with luxurious materials and exceptional playability, making it one of the highest-grade instruments in the Ernie Ball Music Man lineup.

The BFR model features a select figured maple top—often highly flamed or quilted—paired with a lightweight basswood body for excellent resonance and balance. The hand-rubbed oil and wax finished maple neck feels fast, smooth, and uniquely comfortable, offering Music Man’s signature playability. The neck is typically roasted or made from select maple for enhanced stability and a refined, silky feel.

Electronics include dual custom DiMarzio humbuckers voiced specifically for the Axis series. These pickups deliver a powerful, articulate sound with tight lows, rich mids, and a focused high-end that excels in rock, fusion, and modern pop. The 5-way switching system provides a wide range of tones—from thick humbucker punch to glassy parallel-coil clarity.

Hardware is top-tier throughout, including locking Schaller tuners, a Music Man hardtail bridge and stainless steel or high-grade frets. The BFR series also features unique finishes, special neck woods, figured tops, and limited-run color options not available on standard Axis models.

Every BFR Axis Super Sport is built in limited quantities, includes a numbered certificate, and represents the highest level of detail and craftsmanship Music Man offers.
