This model is part of Fender’s 70th Anniversary Stratocaster collection, honoring the first Stratocaster (1954) in a limited-edition run. Instead of a modern or flashy finish, this version embraces vintage authenticity with a Wide-Fade Two-Color Sunburst nitro lacquer, giving it a classic early ’50s look.
The body is made from two-piece select ash with an offset seam on the treble side, which contributes to a resonant, airy tone — just like the earliest Strats. The neck is quartersawn maple, fashioned in a special Soft “V” profile designed for the 70th anniversary, based on a genuine July 1954 Strat neck.
The fingerboard is maple too, and features a compound vintage radius: 7.25″ near the nut, easing into 9.5″ toward the higher frets, giving both vintage feel and more comfortable playability up high. The fretwire is medium vintage (Jescar 47095), with 21 frets, and the nut is made of bone.
For pickups, it has three Custom Shop hand-wound ’54 single-coils, delivering sparkling, bell-like highs, sweet mids, and balanced lows typical of vintage Strats. The electronics are routed via a vintage-style wiring harness, using a 5-way selector and classic control layout: master volume, two tone knobs.
Hardware is vintage-appropriate: a vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuning machines, a disc string tree, and a 70th Anniversary neck plate. The pickguard is a single-ply white plastic model (matching ’50s Strat styling).
The guitar comes in a deluxe embroidered hard-shell case and includes a certificate of authenticity — fitting for a limited-edition Custom Shop instrument.
The guitar has some finish, but overall a great collectable and beautiful guitar. Comes with COA, Floor traveler and original case.
